Seminar on Romani Aesthesis: Emancipatory potentials beyond modern-colonial art and aesthetics 

Im Rahmen der internationalen Präsentation seines Buches Cosmosonoridades: cante-gitano y canción-gyu. Epistemologías del sentir wird Iván Periáñez Bolaño, Doktor und Professor für Anthropologie an der Universität Sevilla, einen Dialog mit dem Kunsthistoriker und Regisseur Miguel Ángel Vargas über die emanzipatorischen Möglichkeiten des Konzepts der „aesthesis romaní“ führen, am 3. September 2024 um 19.00 Uhr in der Stiftung Kai Dikhas.

Bolaño und Vargas sind zwei spanische Roma-Gitanos-Schöpfer und Denker, die von den kritischen Debatten über den Flamenco und das zeitgenössische Romani-Schaffen stark beeinflusst wurden. Konzepte wie Repräsentation, Anerkennung und Objektivierung werden in einem offenen Dialog mit einer klaren Zielrichtung hinterfragt: von anderen Kategorien und Positionen aus zu sprechen. Periáñez Buch Cosmosonoridades: cante-gitano y canción-gyu. Epistemologías del sentir und seine Überlegungen zum aktuellen Stand der so genannten zeitgenössischen Roma-Kunst sind Orientierungspunkt und Grundlage des Gesprächs.

Die Diskussion wird von der Stiftung Kai Dikhas in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Europäischen Roma-Institut für Kunst und Kultur (ERIAC) veranstaltet.

As part of the international presentation of his book Cosmosonoridades: cante-gitano y canción-gyu. Epistemologías del sentir, Iván Periáñez Bolaño, doctor and professor of anthropology at the University of Seville, will hold a dialogue with the art historian and director Miguel Ángel Vargas on the emancipatory possibilities of the concept of ‘aesthesis romaní’ on 3 September 2024 at 7 p.m. at the Kai Dikhas Foundation.

Bolaño and Vargas are two Spanish Roma-Gitanos creators and thinkers who were strongly influenced by the critical debates on flamenco and contemporary Romani creation. Concepts such as representation, recognition and objectification are questioned in an open dialogue with a clear objective: to speak from other categories and positions. Periáñez's book ‘Cosmosonoridades’: cante-gitano y canción-gyu. Epistemologías del sentir and his reflections on the current state of so-called contemporary Roma art are the point of reference and basis for the discussion.
